Main duties of the job
As a Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistant, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring the safe, effective, and timely supply of medicines across our hospitals. Working alongside pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, your responsibilities will include:

Assessing patients' own medications for suitability of use

Managing the supply of medications and providing a one-stop dispensing service

Ensuring medicines are stored and handled safely and in line with legal and clinical standards
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care
You will be required to work on the late night, weekend and bank holiday rotas. You will also be required to work flexibly.

Main Purpose
To deliver an efficient and effective medicines management service to the Trusts in-patient wards by undertaking POD (Patients own Drugs) assessments, and reducing unnecessary wastage on discharge by managing the medication supply pathway and providing a one-stop dispensing service.
To support professional and technical staff in the dispensary in the provision of an efficient dispensing service, including good housekeeping and general administration duties.
General Duties
To support Pharmacists and Medicines Management Technicians with the Clinical Pharmacy service
Creating non-stock order sheets for Pharmacists to authorise prior to dispensing
Checking PODs as appropriate for use whilst an inpatient
To complete near patient dispensing in the ward environment to support timely patient discharge
To dispense prescriptions for hospital in patients and out patients, discharge prescriptions and controlled drugs for all service users
