An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the UHD Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist Team. We have the opportunity for a 9 month maternity cover secondment/fixed term within the team based in Bournemouth hospital. The successful applicant will work alongside the current Lung Cancer CNS Team. They will be potential for cross site working with opportunity to work in Poole.
The role of the Lung Cancer CNS is to support patients and their families throughout the Lung Cancer Pathway. This includes ensuring timeliness of investigations and appointments through the diagnostic pathway with awareness of Cancer Waiting Time Targets, present at Breaking Bad News, offering support and information regarding diagnosis and treatment, being the patients advocate and advising on symptom management. This Role includes working closely with members of the Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Team, Primary and Tertiary Care as well as being able to work autonomously
We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse who is keen to make a difference in the care of those experiencing a life changing diagnosis. As there is significant Respiratory/Oncology component to the post, previous experience in these areas is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. More important in this role is a nurse who is highly organised, motivated to learn, with excellent communication and team working skills.
This role requires NMC Registration.
