Job summary

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen to join the Gynae-Oncology Cancer Nurse Specialist Team at Poole Hospital for 12 months. The successful applicant will work alongside the current Gynae-oncology CNS Team based at Poole. There may be a need to work with the Gynae team on the Bournemouth site to help cover sickness or leave, as well as being involved in developing a UHD Gynae-Oncology Cancer CNS Service.

The role supports patients and their families throughout the Gynae-oncology Cancer Pathway. This includes ensuring timeliness of investigations and appointments through the diagnostic pathway with awareness of Cancer Waiting Time Targets, present at Breaking Bad News, offering support and information regarding diagnosis and treatment, being the patients advocate and advising on symptom management. This Role includes working closely with members of the Gynae Cancer Multidisciplinary Team, Primary and Tertiary Care as well as being able to work autonomously

We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse who is keen to make a difference in the care of those experiencing a life changing diagnosis. As there is a significant Gynae/Oncology component to the post, previous experience in these areas is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. More important in this role is a nurse who is highly organised, motivated to learn, with excellent communication and team working skills.
