We have several vacancies for Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs) available across Dorset and are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join one of our teams at either;
- Dorset Healthcare (based at various locations across Dorset)
- Dorset County Hospital (based at Dorchester hospital)
- University Hospitals Dorset (based at Bournemouth & Poole hospitals

Candidates must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science at Grade 4/C or above, be able to demonstrate they are committed to a career in Pharmacy and will ideally have some previous pharmacy experience. Evidence of essential qualifications must be provided prior to interview. Other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.
All posts are 2 year fixed term, full-time contract of 37.5 hours per week and require participation in the late night, weekend and Bank Holiday rotas. In exceptional circumstances and reviewed on a case by case basis, a minimum of 30 hours per week may be considered.
Candidates will need to be available to start at the beginning of September 2024 and must state which of the three Hospitals Trusts they are prepared to work at, in order of preference, within the supporting statement section of their application.

Main duties of the job
Throughout the two year post, PTPTs will gain practical experience and develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours across rotational opportunities in dispensary, pharmacy stores, community pharmacy and hospital wards. Other rotations e.g. aseptic pharmacy, GP surgeries and mental health units may be available depending on sector (refer to individual job descriptions for further information). This is whilst undertaking a distance learning apprenticeship delivered by an accredited external education provider. By the end of the two years PTPTs will;
- Have attained a Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Level 3 Apprenticeship
- Be eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Be able to apply for Pharmacy Technician roles nationally
A considerable amount of additional study will be required in the student's own time. The successful candidate must have good time management skills both in and out of work due to the pressure of undertaking the qualification, and being in full time employment. A learning contract must be adhered to at all times.
