Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 administrator to join the Dorset Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP). Dorset BCSP is based at Poole Hospital, but the team works closely with colleagues at our satellite screening sites (Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Dorset County Hospital). A significant proportion of the work of the administration team involves data input and adherence to administrative processes to ensure the smooth-running of the programme. A systematic approach and excellent attention to detail are essential skills of the successful candidate. The post holder must be IT literate; specific training will be given to use the in-house IT systems. This role involves the provision of a busy telephone helpline for patients, relatives, GPs and other NHS departments. There is also occasional face-to-face patient contact. At times, the BCSP administrators provide support to the Endoscopy and Gastroeneterology departments. The role of the senior administrator is to lead the administration team, ensure the workload is being managed efficiently, and provide support to the Lead Administrator and Lead Nurse in the production of audits and reports.

To succeed in this role you will need to possess excellent communication skills, have accurate data input skills and a passion to deliver an outstanding and knowledgeable service to our patients. This is a very busy department and good team skills are essential in this role.
