Job summary
There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Communications professional to work as part of our small team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity. This role will be heavily focused on supporting the charity team to raise awareness of the charity, increase donations and event participation though developing supporter engagement, using a wide range of communication techniques.
Specifically, the post holder's primary focus will be to support the fundraising team to deliver its fundraising plan through the development and management of effective marketing campaigns, the charity's website, social media presence and ensuring all PR opportunities are maximised.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual who has a sound understanding of a range of traditional and digital marketing and PR techniques and good knowledge of design principles. This is a rewarding and fun role for somebody who works well in a busy environment, a team player and is able to work on their own initiative and manage multiple projects independently.
You will have:
- A good understanding of digital platforms and social media
- Solid copywriting skills
- Experience of using Adobe InDesign or similar
- Experience of designing campaigns and communications materials such as: leaflets, posters, newsletters, banners
- Be a creative thinker with experience of creating engaging content

Main duties of the job
- Have strong copywriting skills and bring creative ideas
- Be able to evaluate and monitor the success of marketing campaigns and activities
- Be self-motivated with the ability to manage, multi-task and work on multiple projects at once in a quick-paced environment
- Knowledge of the latest data protection regulations and standards
- Show commitment and enthusiasm for the cause - University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity raises funds to enhance patient care, treatment and services and support staff health, wellbeing, welfare and development
- Develop and implement a marketing and PR plan for UHD NHS Charity
- Develop and manage effective marketing campaigns
- Monitor, assess, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of all marketing and PR activity
- Write and distribute press releases in order to widely publicise the work of the Charity ensuring consistency of corporate branding andmessaging through all media
- Assist in the planning and promotion of charity events, challenges and various fundraising campaigns.
- Liaise with supporters to create interesting and emotive case studies for media, marketing and Trust internal communications channels.
- Assist in collating information and writing copy for the Charity's website, newsletters, annual report and additional internal and external newsletters and communications.
