Job summary

We have amazing opportunities for you to join us as the clinical lead Physiotherapist, in our physiotherapy treatment room, on our Christchurch site.

University Hospitals Dorset has been created from the merger of Poole and Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Trusts. As a large NHS foundation trust, we have the benefit of being next to the beautiful Dorset coastline as well as all the advantages of both urban and rural areas to choose from. Dorset also benefits from two local Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) offering close affiliation for health care professionals in the local area.

We support several FCP positions across the UHD locality, including both Poole and Christchurch. We recognise the growing preference of maintaining an interest in a variety of clinical areas and support flexibility in case loads. We promote the importance of a good work life balance.

Working closely with our Primary Care Groups (PCNs) we can offer clinical support to further develop your knowledge and career in this growing area.

The outpatient physiotherapy opportunities will primarily be based at Christchurch with the treatment room team lead role.

Main duties of the job

UHD operate a self-referral service into our two MSK outpatient sites. As part of your role you would be involved in triaging GP referrals to the Dorset MSK service; deciding on appropriateness, priority and suitability for secondary care.

As team lead you would be responsible for the management of a mixed caseload with a bias on upper quadrant and spinal patients referred to Physiotherapy from both primary and secondary care. You will supervise and support a team of rotational physiotherapists as they pass through their MSK rotations at both Band 6 and Band 5 levels. Maintain strong links with the primary care ACP service which is also based on the Christchurch site.

Christchurch has recently benefited from a million-pound refurbishment, providing two physiotherapy gyms, as well as number of physiotherapy consulting rooms. The site boasts excellent staff changing facilities, cycling to work is encouraged with secure bike storage.

About us

Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They define how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, our valued teammates and colleagues.

UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.

This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Recruiting Managers interviewing for this role will be happy to answer any specific questions that you have at interview.
