Speciality Doctor in Trauma and Orthopaedics
The post holder will be expected to have clinical skills, they should be able to identify and a reasonable understanding of the management of common Orthopaedic trauma and other emergency conditions.
The post holder should be able to request investigations such as blood tests, scans and other imaging appropriate for each injury.
Main duties of the job
University Hospitals Dorset Foundation Trust is currently seeking to appoint a Speciality Doctor in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Applicants are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Trauma Orthopaedics which is offered for a fixed-term period of 9 months initially. The successful candidate will provide a mixture of operating and fracture clinic activity, support the care of inpatients admitted under the trauma surgeons. Taking part in the Trauma daytime and week night on-call rota as well as 1 in 10 oncall weekends or covering weekend trauma lists.
In order to deliver this level of service applicants should have proven experience of undertaking independent trauma operating for general trauma, routine ankle and hip surgery as a minimum and demonstrate a desire to further their knowledge and skills.

The post holder will be support by middle grade and consultant grade colleagues.
The post holder will be expected to be fluent in English and be able to communicate clearly to work colleagues and patients.
The post holder will be expected to work as part of a multi-disaplinary team, including nurses, physiotherapist, nurse practitioners and extended scope physiotherapists, and pharmacists.
