Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Head and Neck Speech & Language Therapy team at UHD, due to the retirement of the current post holder and reconfiguration of the service. The team are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for Head and Neck Oncology.
You will join a team of Band 7 Speech & Language Therapy leads, working closely with the clinical lead for ENT/laryngology, but also with the clinical leads in Acute, Older Persons Medicine and Neuro rehabilitation.
It is an exciting time to join UHD with the transformation of services across two hospital sites at Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide leadership and clinical expertise across a small but dedicated team, working as part of the Head and Neck MDT. The HN and ENT teams work as an integrated service, responding flexibly to the clinical demand across both service areas.
The Speech & Language Therapy HN team are core members of the wider Dorset Head and Neck MDT, consisting of Surgeons, Oncologists and other Nursing and AHP professionals and as such are involved in weekly MDT clinics. You will oversee the weekly Laryngectomy clinic and take part in specialist instrumental assessments such as Videofluoroscopy and FEES.
You will be skilled in managing a complex caseload of inpatients and outpatients and have experience in prioritising workload to manage the fluctuating patient demand and SLT capacity.
The Head and Neck SLT team have a strong ethos of being a supportive and innovative team with a passion for providing excellent evidence based practice and person centred care. This post will provide opportunities to be involved in both teaching and research.
