Job summary
Research: The successful candidate will be part of the research team working collaboratively with principal investigators and help facilitate NIHR portfolio studies. The clinical research network can support candidates write a research proposal. They will be encouraged to attend the Wessex CRN and National Speciality Research network programmes. In addition, the candidate will support other healthcare professionals in completing GCP training and facilitate the recruitment NIHR funded studies.
Education:The successful candidate will be involved in teaching medical undergraduates and other healthcare professionals. They work as a collaborative member of the multi-professional education team, involving practice development midwives, Obstetric and Gynaecology Consultants, the PROMPT team and Fetal Monitoring Midwives. The successful candidate will be given a development opportunity for a postgraduate certificate in medical education or to enrol in RCOG medical education RCOG ATSM (if applicable) or a postgraduate diploma or a masters in medical education.
Clinical: In addition, the post-holder will be expected to deliver clinical sessions. The post-holder will be included in the SpR on-call rota covering Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The clinical sessions will consist of general gynaecology, antenatal clinic, and theatre sessions--maternity triage and a delivery suite.

This post is suitable for a ST3+ level interested in gaining experience in medical education and research. Approximately 50% of the time will be spent in Education/Research and 50% in clinical activity.
