Job summary
We are looking for a Band 7 Physiotherapist to undertake the Orthopaedic Therapy Clinical Leader role in our innovative and enthusiastic Elective Orthopaedic Therapy Team working at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust.
The post holder will provide clinical expertise, training programmes and leadership within the Elective Orthopaedic Therapy team. They will manage, coordinate and help develop the Therapy service within elective orthopaedics and develop support to other areas where a service is provided (out-patients, day surgery, orthopaedic wards and orthopaedic outpatients). Our Orthopaedic Therapy team consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Assistants in the provision of a high quality, award winning 7-day service to our Orthopaedic patients.
The post holder will also act as an advanced autonomous physiotherapy practitioner within the Orthopaedic Therapy team and as an Extended Scope Practitioner Physiotherapist within Orthopaedic Outpatient clinics, making decisions regarding patient pathways and management.
The post holder will contribute to leading the team through change where services across Bournemouth and Poole will start to work more closely as Elective and Trauma services will come together to plan for the next phase of integration as the organisation prepares for sites moves in 2025.
This role requires HCPC Registration.

Main duties of the job
- To undertake clinical leader role within elective orthopaedics providing leadership and clinical expertise.
- To lead the elective orthopaedic therapy team and ensure all associated pathways and services are maintained.
- To assess and treat elective orthopaedic patients to a high clinical standard. To lead the team through service improvement and provide the team with leadership through change.
- To ensure high level of training to all team member enabling them to fulfil their roles effectively.
- To Act as an Extended Scope Practitioner Physiotherapist within Orthopaedic Outpatient clinics, making decisions regarding patient pathways and management.
