Job summary

Head of Security & Portering UHD, will lead the Trust in design and strategy modelling a 'fit for purpose' hospitals remodelling due to Clinical Service Remodelling (CSR) of a scalable and supportive workforce and procedures, working with outside agencies (ICB/other). Horizon scanning and soliciting best practise in other areas of both NHS and private sectors. Supporting communication and guiding executive direction with Head of Operations and Facilities with direct Executive accountability with COO/DCOO.

This role requires a current certified Accredited Security Management Specialist (ASMS) qualification

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will Act as the Trusts Security & Portering expert. They will ensure that security and portering issues relating to the Trust are dealt with in a professional and timely manner, giving appropriate advice, making sound judgements and making referrals in line with national and local legislation and policy.
  • They will influence Trust departments to ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place to protect Trust staff, patients and visitors and to ensure that Portering supports the Trust within the remit of their duties.
  • Lead and support Trust wide strategy to develop and support the hospital staff and patients to experience a safe and positive environment and take the lead on supporting a reduction in violence and aggression or other National initiatives.
  • To develop and implement strategies to ensure services meet Trust, legislative requirements and service user outcomes.

Design and lead of service changes for CSR.

  • Further study or training in a security field, with Local Security Management Specialist (LSMS) qualification
  • Hold a current certified Accredited Security Management Specialist (ASMS) qualification

Desirable

  • Relevant qualification e.g. SIA CCTV or security qualifications, health and safety qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of portering/security within an NHS environment
  • Significant strategic experience of operating within complex environments
  • Substantial experience in developing and managing teams
  • Substantial experience in managing people and budgets
