Job summary

Are you looking for a Band 6 role with the opportunity for extended roles in the most beautiful part of the country? With a possibility of funding for ACP role in the future?

We are looking for someone ready to integrate as part of a developing team of 8 Orthoptists to provide the full range of orthoptic services. You will join a team of 8 Orthoptists, 5 Optometrists, and 14 Consultants - 4 who have specific interest in Paediatric Ophthalmology, 1 with Neuro and adult motility, and 2 with Oculoplastics.

You will join a busy team working across the 2 main hospital sites, treating the full Orthoptic caseload. You will have access to joint consultant, optometry and other specialised clinics, along with an extensive stroke service. Our team is expanding within the Outpatient service with some Band 6 orthoptists trained up in IVT's to assist the macula service. We are also developing Orthoptists into an ACO role in paediatric ophthalmology, neurology and Emergency eye services. Experience in any extended roles this role would be beneficial, but not essential as training will be provided. We also provide significant support for the Stroke service both as inpatient and outpatients services, across both Bournemouth Hospital and Poole Hospital.

Open to applications from experienced Orthoptists and newly-qualified. Note that newly-qualified practitioners will be paid at a Band 4 rate until they receive their registration from which point they will be paid at Band 5.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be required to work across these 2 hospitals, and possibly other community locations that we provide services for.

Car driver / owner essential

This location provides life by the sea, as well as other picturesque locations nearby such as the Jurassic coast and the New Forest

Rota: a 9 day fortnight
