Job summary

The Estates & Capital Development Department at Royal Bournemouth Hospital wish to recruit an Estate Officer (Project Support) Mechanical Bias. The post holder will work within the Estates Department alongside the operational and capital teams, delivering new projects varying from multi million pound redevelopments to simple alteration and adaptation schemes.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the management of internal and external resources associated with projects and the provision of technical advice and support to other staff within the Estates and Capital Development as appropriate.

The role will require working closely with other departments, within and outside of the Estates and Capital Development to provide a patient centred environment and Estates services, recognizing their contribution to the overall patient experience.

The post holder will have technical knowledge and will be expected to manage data and information to ensure an economic quality service, ensuring compliance with Trust standards, procedures and legislation.

Qualifications

Essential

  • The post-holder must be educated to HNC/HND level in Engineering Management or recognised equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Knowledge of relevant Trust policies, NHS and DH guidance, health and safety and other legislation relevant to the position.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of DH and NHS guidelines and relevant legislation.

Desirable

  • Degree qualified.
  • IOSH Managing Safety or Equivalent.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institute i.e. IHEEM, CIOB, R.I.C.S. / R.I.B.A. / I.W.F.M / IEE / CIBSE CMI etc with +5 years post registration.

Experience

Essential

  • Engineering/Project Management experience within an acute NHS Trust or similar complex organisation.
  • Experience of managing a range of Project issues including: procurement, contractors, planning, quality standards, governance and Health and Safety issues.
  • Proven management skills and experience to control and promote teamwork amongst multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Extensive experience of working in an Estates/Project management role and managing multiple project streams.
  • Able to proactively manage contractors and consultants.
