University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) has an exciting opportunity for two Trainee Clinical Endoscopists (CE) to join our team. One post is for a trainee Lower GI Endoscopist and the other for a Trainee Upper GI Endoscopist
They will be based initially at either the Poole or Bournemouth sites depending on their chosen modality. Their role will be expected to expand, after successful JAG accreditation, to provide cover across all sites including the Wimborne unit.
As well as plans to become a JAG accredited Endoscopy Training Centre we are also a Bowel Cancer Screening Centre which creates an exciting and varied work environment. The units are both friendly and dynamic and you will be joining a team of 4 other Clinical Endoscopists based at each site.
The Trainee salary will be Band 6 (Annex U-(65% of top of Band 6)for the duration of their training (40 weeks), This then moves to Band 7 when they have completed their competencies and become accredited and upon successfully completing the Health Education England training program you will be appointed as a Clinical Endoscopist Band 7 undertaking either Upper GI or Lowe GI Endoscopy predominantly on one of the UHD sites with the expectation of cross site working as the merging process progresses.
Base Location - Cross site working between Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospital (to include Wimborne when competent)

Main duties of the job
The principal role of this position is to be trained as either an Upper or Lower GI Clinical Endoscopist. The successful candidates will be motivated, demonstrate drive, vision and enthusiasm to make a major contribution to the unit activity as an advanced practitioner. They will be required to have excellent communication skills, a flexible attitude and will need to demonstrate a commitment to their own personal development.
The successful candidate will take part in the next cohort of the Health Education England (HEE) Clinical Endoscopist Training Program based at the Regional Endoscopy Training Centre. They will be supported by JAG accredited Endoscopy Trainers utilizing regular protected training lists.
The Royal Bournemouth unit consists of 6 procedure rooms (including ERCP which is performed in the X-ray department), the Poole Unit has a further 3 procedure rooms with more expansion planned and Wimborne is planned to be a satellite unit. We provide a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including: Upper and Lower GI Endoscopy, Endoscopic Ultra sound (EUS), Bronchoscopy and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
These jobs will include 6 day working (Monday-Saturday)
