Job summary

An exciting new opportunity for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to develop the psychology service in Diabetes Transition and Young Adult Care at University Hospitals Dorset.

You will be warmly welcomed by the Psychology and Diabetes Teams and well-supported to develop into the role. The post will involve working in an integrated diabetes transition and young adult care MDT, to develop psychological pathways and provide specialist psychological assessment, intervention and psychoeducation with outpatients. As a valued member of the MDT, you will provide consultation, advice, training and supervision to staff on patients' psychological wellbeing.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good honours degree in Psychology. Eligibility for Graduate Membership of BPS.
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology

Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
  • Clinical Supervision training for Doctoral trainees.

Experience

Essential

  • Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a minimum of one year.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across care settings including outpatients, community primary care and in-patient care settings.

Desirable

  • Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care
  • Experience of assessing and treating clients across the full range of care settings
  • Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts.
