Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist or Radiographer to take a significant leading role in a busy and very newly refurbished Nuclear Medicine Department. The Department provides a wide ranging imaging, non-imaging and therapeutic radionuclide service based at Poole Hospital but serving patients from across Dorset. This busy department is now equipped with two Siemens' Intevo Bold SPECT/CT scanners and is situated adjacent to the Alliance Medical run PET Centre. Extensive optimisation work is currently being undertaken on these two new scanners to allow full use to be made of their capabilities.

Main duties of the job

he Department supports a progressive cardiac imaging service with Radiographer lead stressing and clinical reporting. It is planning to significantly extend its provision of diagnostic level CT as part of its hybrid imaging service. It actively supports staff training, clinical development, audit, research and attendance at meetings and conferences.

The work will involve preparation and administration of patient doses, patient handling and carrying out a wide range of imaging and non-imaging tests using gamma cameras and other special equipment. It is anticipated that the post holder will train to become part of the cardiac reporting team. Work will also involve participation in the therapy clinics, the QA program of the gamma cameras and radioactive waste disposal and transport procedures.

You will be registered with HCPC (or equivalent) and have significant experience in the field of nuclear medicine, preferably with a relevant post-graduate qualification and some leadership experience. Appointment will be in the range of Band 7 depending on qualifications and experience.

About us

The department works 7:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday with the possibility of working 4 long days/week or 5 more normal days. The normal place of work will be Poole Hospital but work at Royal Bournemouth Hospital will be necessary on a rotational basis to support the sentinel node injection service.
