Job summary

The Retreat is an exciting and innovative approach, delivered in partnership to support people experiencing mental health crisis.The Retreat offers an open access service for people who self-identify as in crisis and distress.

The purpose is to provide a space for people to be listened to, connectwith others, access peer support and brief, recovery focused interventions.The Retreat opened in April 2018, and is available forpeople to access between the hours of 4:00pm -midnight.The Front of House will be the face of this service, welcoming people into The Retreat and providing exceptional levels of customer service to people using the service as well as external stakeholders during operating hours.There will be a requirement to perform administrative duties, supporting the service effectively by creating and utilising systems that assist the day-to-day running of the service, arranging meetings and managing diaries.The Front of House will be confident and articulate, with experience communicating with a wide range of people, including those who may be experiencing distress. It is essential that they are welcoming and compassionate; facilitating peoples best possible experience of using The Retreat.

Main duties of the job

Provide a first point of contact for people interacting with the service, including people using the service, representing the service in a professional manner at all times.To lend support to people in various states of distress to feel comfortable within The Retreat and utilise the space effectively.To remain professional, calm and polite during every interaction, ensuring that people are supported appropriately and needs are met.To maintain excellent communication and effective working relationships across all disciplines and external agencies, ensuring close links whilst clearly communicating the aims and expectations of the service. This will include complex or sensitive information with barriers to understanding.To support the smooth running of The Retreat through the creation and upkeep of administrative systems and relevant databases.To effectively communicate with the team any concerns which arise about people utilising the service.To undertake supervision within the staff team to identify any personal development needs and discuss any difficult or problematic circumstances.
