Job summary
Are you ready to make a real difference at the most critical point in someone's mental health journey?
We are looking for passionate, motivated and compassionate individuals to join our established and highly supportive team within Haven Male PICU, a 7-bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit based at St Ann's Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, specialist environment providing intensive care and treatment to men experiencing the most acute phase of serious mental illness. If you are looking for a role that is challenging, rewarding and genuinely life-changing - this could be for you.
Haven Male PICU provides high-quality, compassionate and recovery-focused care for men who require a period of intensive support in a safe and therapeutic environment. Many of our patients are detained under the Mental Health Act and present with increased levels of risk that require specialist assessment and treatment within a PICU setting.
Our multidisciplinary team is friendly, experienced and committed to delivering care that is calm, trauma-informed and least restrictive wherever possible.
Main duties of the job
We are proud to:
- Treat patients using positive engagement, psychological approaches (including CBT and DBT-informed practice) and medicines
- Place patients and their families/carers at the centre of recovery
- Co-produce individualised care plans
- Prioritise both mental and physical wellbeing
- Encourage meaningful activity both on and off the ward
- Promote independence, healthy lifestyles and self-care.
No two days are ever the same, but every day is an opportunity to make a lasting difference.
Exciting New Chapter - Moving to Our New Hospital Ward (May 2026)
In May 2026, Haven Male PICU will be relocating to a brand-new purpose-built 8-bedded unit within St Ann's, designed to enhance patient experience, safety and therapeutic engagement.
This modern environment will provide improved facilities, enhanced clinical spaces and a setting that truly supports recovery-focused care. By joining us now, you will play a key role in shaping and embedding our team culture as we transition into this new chapter.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of an established team while also contributing to the development of a newly built, forward-thinking inpatient environment.
