Job summary

Are you passionate about safeguarding and improving outcomes for children and young people? An exciting opportunity has arisen within Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust to recruit to this key post.

The post holder will join a team of experienced safeguarding professionals in an integrated adults and children's safeguarding team committed to their work.

The post holder will take a key role in ensuring that the Trust meets its statutory responsibilities and complies with all relevant legislation and guidance.

This is a senior clinical post, supporting safeguarding strategy, and providing professional and clinical leadership, expert clinical advice, and consultancy to staff, ensuring that all safeguarding standards are met.

Applicants are required to have significant experience as a registered nurse working in senior roles across the NHS, independent and statutory safeguarding partners, and be able to clearly demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Main duties of the job

Maintain expertise, knowledge, and professional leadership to the Trust regarding statutory responsibilities towards safeguarding children and young people.

Be an excellent role model and exercise good effective leadership, ensuring that support and advice is readily available, and that there is clear guidance as to whom to contact for out of hours advice.

Participate in continuous critical review of existing Trust policies, procedures, and standards for the management of safeguarding and protecting children incorporating best practice and evidence.

Lead, coordinate and deliver relevant written and statistical reporting of safeguarding children activity for the quarterly and annual report.

Monitor and maintain an annual safeguarding children audit programme and evidence of CQC Essential Standards of Quality and Safety (2009) and Section 11 (Children Act 2004) compliance relating.

Support with completing Internal Management Reviews for Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews, and other serious incidents in accordance with statutory guidance.

Lead on the dissemination and implementation of learning across the Trust from Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews and other significant incidents where there are safeguarding children concerns.
