Job summary

A rare opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic enhanced clinical Band 7 Podiatrist to join our rheumatology team in Dorset. This is an excellent chance for someone who has experience of specialist working in rheumatology/ musculo-skeletal to develop their skills further. The post is for a 0.6 FTE .

This is an exciting time to join a growing service providing a range of quality foot care services. The service primary focus is inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue diseases. There is a proactive approach to foot-related problems ranging from supporting self-management through to addressing the tissue viability and musculo-skeletal problems in these patient groups. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosing, planning and implementation of Podiatric Care to patients with inflammatory arthritis. The post requires enhanced level clinical practise and the successful candidate would be expected to demonstrate appropriate skills to achieve this i.e. Non-Medical Prescriber, musculoskeletal ultrasound, advanced orthotic prescribing,dermatoscopy, tissue viability and/or be happy to work towards gaining these enhanced skills.

The successful candidate would work across as part of the UHD rheumatology MDT managing a wide range of complex patients across several hospitals.

You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills both with your colleagues but also a real enthusiasm for working with this patient group.

Main duties of the job

Provide high quality innovative clinical practice for new and existing patients within the rheumatology podiatry service. Be proactive in clinical decision making, underpinned by an advancedlevel of theoretical and practical knowledge and be able to demonstrate improved patient care outcomes.

Utilise enhanced clinical practise skills (i.e Independent Non-Medical / Supplementary prescriber, NMR (non-medical radiology requesting)musculoskeletal ultrasound, bespoke footwear provision, advanced orthotic prescribing, dermatoscopy, tissue viability,podosmart analysis, clinical hypnosis) to effectively manage patients.

Attend MDT meetings to discus patient management.

To request, analyse, modify, record and the results of wound swabs,blood tests, ultrasound Doppler arterial scans and x-rays.
