Job summary

Are you an effective communicator looking for a change? The Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service are offering a 6-month secondment/fixed-term opportunity to manage and deploy resources in urgent cases as a Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service (CATS) Dispatcher.

As a CATS Dispatcher, you will be managing a constantly changing workload, responding to requests for service from the public, healthcare professionals and emergency services in a calm, caring and professional manner.

By joining us, you will be making a real difference, delivering a responsive and patient focused service to people requiring healthcare advice and assistance in Dorset.

This is a part time 20.5 hours 6 month fixed term / secondment opportunity. Week 1=23.5 hours per week and week 2 =17.5 hours per week to include weekends ( full rota details in attached document).

Main duties of the job

Autonomously manage and deploy resources in emergency, urgent and routine cases in accordance with national and local policy, procedure and protocol. This may include Doctors, Emergency Care Practitioners (ECP), Nurses and Dental Clinicians.

Manage and communicate with operational staff by assigning them to emergency, urgent and routine cases in accordance with the National Quality Standards.

Plan and organise a constantly changing workload. This often involves allocating and re-allocating cases to resource subject to changing priorities in a timely manner.

Manage patients, relatives and the general public in a calm, caring and professional manner, treating them with dignity and respect at all times

Utilise several information systems in parallel for the management of patient cases and efficient deployment of resource.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
