Job summary
Herm Ward, based at Alderney Hospital in Poole, has an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Clinical Team Leader to join the team on a full time permanent basis.
Herm Ward is a female older people ward, with a total of 23 beds providing a high quality of care and treatment for patients who have been diagnosed with dementia. The purpose of the ward is to offer comprehensive assessments, treatment and to develop clear plans of care.
The ward team are highly motivated and have a track record of implementing care, with an emphasis on therapeutic and diverse interventions. We work closely as a multi-disciplinary team and value learning, having regular teaching and supervision with a shared vision and action plan for the service.
Clinical Team Leaders undertake a dual clinical and leadership role; acting as a deputy for the Ward Manager. They play a key role in the day-to-day management of the ward; are a main point of contact for advice/decisions and will support, supervise and manage staff at every level. They also assist in the delivery of local and nationally required outcomes and will often be given a lead role to manage in their own right.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our team who is able to work effectively and dynamically in a busy and demanding setting. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate passion to develop their skills within areas such as clinical leadership, interpersonal effectiveness, supervision, risk assessment and risk management, quality improvement and clinical practice.
To assist the Ward Manager in providing high standard care andtreatment of patients.To carry out day to day managerial/supervisory responsibilities, inconjunction with the Ward Manager.
This post requires that you work a shift rotation including nights. Your continuous professional development will be planned and tailored to your needs together with support to achieve the personal goals set via annual appraisal and you will receive regular clinical and management supervision.
You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
