Job summary

This vacancy is for two part-time permanent posts with opportunities to work either in the Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service and/or the Specialist Brain Injury Unit on Portland Ward at Poole Hospital and will provide the applicant with excellent experience that is relevant to obtaining onward progression to Doctoral Clinical Psychology Training.

Based at Poole clinic and Poole Hospital, you will work with adults who have an acquired brain injury supporting clinical psychologists in both areas to deliver treatment . You will join our Adult Neuropsychology Team which consists of a consultant neuropsychologist, Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Psychologists, and Admin support.

Duties will include routine testing, therapy, behavioural analysis and intervention, management of referrals, telephone follow-ups and assisting with clinical audits.

It is essential that you have a 2.1 honours degree or higher in Psychology and that you have a car that can be used for work as the area involves visits to different team bases.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Main duties of the job

Support the provision of the clinical psychology service to patients with acquired brain injury on Portland Ward and following discharge from hospital - in the patients home or other community setting.

Work with Honorary assistant psychologists & students on placement and help to guide/support them with their placement activities.

Conduct psychometric and other routine psychological assessments.

Implement specific therapeutic programmes.

Plan, organise and implement psycho-educational interventions.

Provide health-related advice to clients, carers and professionals.

Use analytical and judgemental skills for assessing clients; choose and apply valid psychological interventions.

Provide client intervention and psychometric testing that require prolonged concentration

Provide therapy for relatively uncomplicated clients

Assist with case management, including clients follow up and discharge

Collect, collate and analyse clinical information.

Update client/research records and write letters and sections of psychological reports on clinical matters (assessment and treatment)

Ensure timely and accurate recording of all clinical interventions and liaison on the electronic patient record system

Work as an integrated part of the multidisciplinary team to provide person centred and coordinated care, including regular joint working with colleagues from other professional groups.
