Job summary
Our inpatient CAMHS is expanding to include a brand-new purpose built 8 bed High Intensity Environment/PICU opening in 2026 at Alumhurst Road, Bournemouth. If you are a registered Mental Health Nurse either with CAMHS experience or looking to gain, we would love to hear from you! We would also welcome newly qualified as we offer a fantastic preceptorship programme.
As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, you will work directly with young people and their families providing a range of assessments and therapeutic work, adopting the Thrive framework. Our aim is to provide outstanding care, promoting recovery and wellbeing in a modern, purpose-built setting to make a difference and have a positive change on the lives of young people. We invest in supporting and developing our nurses. Supervision from a Clinical Team Lead will be provided and training will be arranged where needed.
The Staff Nurse role is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week for a 24-hour service. We would be flexible and welcome part time applicants of 22.5 hours. Shift patterns:
Early - 07.00 to 15.00
Late - 12.00 to 20.00
Twilight - 16.00 to 00.00
Nights - (enhanced pay) - 19:30 to 07.30
Long days - 07.00 - 20.00

Main duties of the job
The role will be based in the Adolescent In-patient Unit providing individual care to those within the unit in accordance with the integrated care programme approach.
You will work in accordance with the Trust Clinical Governance programme informing Senior Clinical Nurse when changes occur in circumstances that affect standards of care.
You will also be required to participate in all activities within the unit, including food preparation and supervision of meals.
As part of the role, you will be assisting in the organisation of outside activities in line with the Clinical Risk policy and be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of young people on external activities.
The role will allow you to develop effective liaison and communication with all disciplines, agencies, parents/carers and service users, giving sound advice and support to service users and their carers as appropriate in line with professional practice.
You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
