Job summary
Would you like to work near the sea? Portland Community Hospital NEEDS YOU!
The magnificent Portland harbour was home to the sailing events in the 2012 Olympics, and saw a lot of investment into the area. Portland is a royal manor thanks to its military strategic importance and it is an area full of history as a result of that and the quarrying of Portland stone. It is an island linked to mainland by the Chesil beach and a road, it rarely has to be closed due to storms and high tides.
At work - you would be joining a small team which includes a physio assistant and an administrator. For training and supervision you will link with the physiotherapy team at Bridport who are currently providing the clinics at Portland.
Within Dorset HealthCare Trust, we work closely with the MSK Orthopaedic Interface service (known as Dorset MSK) and our local hospitals. Through these links, we can further your experience to expand your knowledge and skills and provide career development opportunities.
If you are committed to provision of a high level of care through evidence based practice and your own personal development then we will support your professional and personal development.
After work - Dorset HealthCare is committed to getting the work: life balance right and offers a wide range of staff benefits. Plus the beautiful beaches and hills of Dorset are right on your doorstep.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities will be:
To work autonomously to provide skilled assessment and treatment/management for a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including those with complex needs. Referrals are received from GP, Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, MIU/A+E, self referral and other NHS colleagues. When appropriate onward referral to other services may be required.
To support the development of students and other colleagues . This will include being a student educator and being involved in In-house training.
To assist the Team Lead in the management of the Physiotherapy Service i.e triage, service development.
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
