Job summary
Are you motivated, organised and passionate about working in mental health? The Mental Health Legislation team are looking for you to join their friendly and supportive team as a Mental Health Legislation administrator, based at St Ann's Hospital, Poole.
You will provide administration around the use of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty safeguards across the organisation. As a team we are passionate about supporting service users and their relatives in understanding mental health legislation and how it affects them. We also work closely with many of the clinical areas within the Trust by providing advice on the use of legislation and how to apply relevant Codes of Practice. In addition, we work with many external agencies and professionals such as Local Authorities, Ministry of Justice, Courts and Tribunals Judiciary, Advocacy services and MH solicitors.
We provide a robust induction programme and the opportunity to further you career development by enhancing your knowledge through specialised learning. It can lead to progression with the team or further with in the trust.
This post is full-time hours of 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00. We can be flexible, and support start time arrangements to balance work and childcare. The role is based at St. Ann's Hospital, although rare you will need to be willing to travel across our Dorset sites for inpatient appeals and supporting the wider team.
Main duties of the job

Key tasks a successful applicant might find themselves undertaking in this role include:
- organising service user appeals against section;
- ensuring service users are lawfully detained
- supporting clinicians to meet statutory timescales
- ensuring service users have been informed of their rights
- sending notifications to the Care Quality Commission about care and treatment patients have received
