Sexual Health Nurse (Training Post)

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Full-Time Band 5 to our dynamic Sexual Health Team. This is a developmental role for an Integrated Sexual Health Nurse.

As a Band 5 Practitioner you will want to develop your skills to a Band 6 Practitioner. A comprehensive and tailored developmental programme will be followed, gaining national qualifications in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and HIV.

You will work as part of our integrated team and participate in the clinical decision-making process to determine the most appropriate care for all service users who attend our community hubs.

We are looking to recruit somebody who is motivated, enthusiastic and has a genuine interest in Sexual Health.

We have clinics in Weymouth, Bridport, Blandford and Shaftesbury so you will need to have access to a vehicle and have a full driving licence. Our Integrated Sexual Health Service offers: Contraception. Sexual Health screening, diagnosis, advice and treatment. Specialist HIV Service amongst other specialities.

Main duties of the job

To gain clinical and theoretical knowledge in the speciality and to work in a supervised capacity to undertake the duties of a sexual health nurse.

To undertake a training role within the department and work towards nationally recognised competencies in sexual and reproductive health, including sexually transmitted infections and methods of contraception.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
