Job summary
As a Cook, you will be a vital member of our dedicated hospital catering team, playing an essential role in preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious meals to patients, staff, and visitors. Your contribution directly supports patients during their time in hospital, making you a valued part of the wider care team.You will help ensure our catering service is delivered to the highest standards by maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment. Your role is key in maintaining the high standard of meal provision expected in a hospital setting.We're looking for someone who is well-organised, flexible, and has good communication skills, be flexible in your approach to work whilst demonstrating an ability to work using your own initiative and work as part of a friendly dedicated team at Bridport Hospital.This is a 30.5 hour per week position, including every other weekend, with enhanced pay rates for weekend shifts.
The proposed shift pattern is as follows
Week 1 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 09:30-17:30, Saturday 09:00-17:30
Week 2 Sunday -9:00-17:30, Monday, Thursday, Friday 09:30-17:30

Main duties of the job
As a Cook, the main elements of the role are to plan, prepare, cook and serve meals to patients, staff and visitors, in line with dietary requirements, ensure the consistent delivery of a high quality catering service that meets the health and safety and hygiene standards.
Carry out general kitchen duties as required, supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the catering team. Adhere to food safety policies, including HACCP and ensure accurate documentation and regular checks are completed.
Liaise with colleagues across department, including the ward to support patient care regarding meal provision.
Ensuring the kitchen is kept to a high standard of cleanliness.
We are looking for someone with good organisational and communication skills, be flexible in your approach to work whilst demonstrating an ability to work using your own initiative and work as part of a team.
The attached job description is a multiskilled support services assistant, and as such gives an option to cover other duties if required.
