Support Time Recovery Worker

Job summary

A position for a Support, Time and Recovery (STR) Worker has become available within the Weymouth & Portland Older Persons Community Mental Health Team. This is a part time, permanent post.

The team you will join is a friendly, supportive and dynamic, multidisciplinary team of Support Workers, Mental Health Nurses, Psychologist, Art Therapist, Administrative Staff, Advanced Clinical Practitioner and a Psychiatrist.

The applicant will need to be able to work collaboratively within the team as well as function as a lone worker seeing patients and carers in a clinical context in the community. The successful applicant will be able to provide evidence based care and treatment and be able to work creatively with community resources to support patients to engage with their community.

Previous experience of working within Mental Health would be advantageous. Further training and learning opportunities will also be offered. We are looking for someone who can be flexible, innovative and person centred in their practice. Car owner driver essential subject to the provisions of the Equality Act (2010).

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual who has a good working knowledge of working with people with mental health problems and is passionate about supporting individuals to meet their recovery goals.

Working alongside the team to help people with severe mental illness to move forward with their recovery. The role will involve some graded exposure work, supporting people to access the community and other resources with the aim for that person to be more independent and able to access resources themselves. In addition, the post holder will be required to develop their clinical skills, to ensure we are complaint with monitoring physical health. This will include clinical skills such as taking an ECG, monitoring patients vital signs and completion of Venepuncture (taking blood). This will be a critical function of the role.

The Weymouth & Portland Older Persons CMHT is a busy but friendly team. We have a variety of staff roles within the team and others have feedback that its a very supportive and fun team to work within. We regularly take students and feel this is a great learning environment for them.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
