Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to work within the West Dorset Occupational Therapy Team on Melstock ward (older persons mental health). You will receive regular supervision, participate in a peer support network, have the opportunity for flexible working, receive ongoing learning and development and regular CPD opportunities.

The role involves providing assessment and intervention for older adults with a mental health condition, supporting and assisting them in their recovery. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and be an integral part of the delivery of patient care and service development.

You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course. It is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.

This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this job are Occupational Therapy assessment, intervention and evaluation of people when they are in an acute stage of mental illness. Other duties include working within an MDT, liaising with external services, communicating with family members, Further responsibilities include involvement in quality improvement, attending professional meeting, guiding support workers and keeping training and CPD up to date for self and others.

Part-time hours will be considered up to 32 hours a week

You will be required to undertake aPrevention and Management of Violence and Aggressioncourse and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
