Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant.

The role includes working across an integrated service in contraception and sexual health in the main hub in Weymouth including weekly outreach clinics in Shaftesbury, Bridport and Blandford. We offer a wide range of clinics and sexual health support such as Genito-Urinary Medicine/STI screening, HIV & PreP clinics and Contraceptive clinics.

The service is open Monday - Friday between 8am & 8pm and the post holder will be required to work various shifts between these times, with a degree of flexibility. You will be required to work in any of our clinics so you must be willing to travel. Previous HCA experience within the NHS is essential along with a competency in venepuncture .

Main duties of the job

The main duties will include chaperoning nurses and doctors, performing STI screening and undertaking microscopy to diagnose certain infections.

You will be required to chaperone patients, carry out patient observations and assisting with coil fits & taking patients' blood as part of STI screening and HIV care along with other duties required by the service.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
