Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to recruit a Part Time Specialty Doctor with Section 12(2) status who will be based at Forston Clinic and will join a well-established Home Treatment Team providing acute care to both adult and older adults with functional mental illness from across West Dorset.

The team work closely with the Community Teams and the inpatient wards both in Forston Clinic and St Ann's Hospital. The aim is to be an alternative to hospital admission and provide care in their community in a timely manner. The team is multidisciplinary in nature and there is an ANP working alongside the consultant.

Main duties of the job

This is a part time post for a Part time General Adult or Older People Psychiatrist Section 12(2) approved working in Forston Clinic and in the community in the West Dorset.

The postholder will work with the HTT West providing acute care to patients registered with general practitioners within West Dorset. The Team provides patient-centered consultant and Nurse-led care. The Specialty Doctor will be supported by a Consultant, an ANP, a psychologist, in addition to the wider multidisciplinary team. The Team has the opportunity to access the recovery House Beds (3) in Weymouth to support patients.

The HTT West works alongside the HTT East based in St Ann's Hospital in Poole, aiming to provide similar approach and excellent quality of care to patients transitioning from one side of the county to the other.

Essential

  • General medical Qualification e.g. MBBS, or equivalent and hold a License to Practice.
  • A minimum of four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis)

Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • Additional clinical qualification
  • MRCPsych or recognised equivalent, e.g., membership of a psychiatry college in another country.
