Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Poole community hospitals.

We are looking for an inspirational, highly motivated individual with exceptional proven leadership skills for the role of Community Hospital Matron.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills, be a positive compassionate role model, be innovative and passionate with evidence of being a champion for clinical standards and continuous improvement. You will be dedicated to improving patient experience and creating an environment where people feel safe, cared for and confident in the treatment they receive.

The individual will be accountable for ensuring the delivery of high quality person centred services with a focus on integrated care which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.

To act as a champion for clinical standards and for continuous improvement in the service user experience, providing assurance that standards meet all contractual requirements.

Westhaven Radipole Ward have 33 inpatient beds and Bridport Colmers Ward have 24 beds

This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.

Main duties of the job

You will have clinical responsibility for facilitating patient flow in and out of our community hospital beds monitoring hospital admissions, discharges and patient movement within the wards to identify bed availability and to ensure efficient use of beds.

You'll be confident in complex clinical decision making, familiar with services in the health system to support patient referrals and transfers, and be able to offer professional challenge as appropriate. You'll be forward thinking and solution focused.

You will have the vision energy and commitment to lead a community hospital through a period of transformation in line with our vision and values.

We are looking for a Registered Health Professional a nurse or allied health professional with experience of developing services and experience at senior clinical leadership level.

This is a full time post and may include some weekends and bank holidays.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

  • Relevant full Masters degree or demonstrable extensive equivalent experience in the relevant specialty.
