Job summary

We are excited to offer the opportunity for a Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join our dynamic team of rehabilitation assistants, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. The team work across Jersey and Guernsey rehabilitation wards at Alderney and discharge to assess beds at Figbury Lodge care home. Therefore car driving and access to a vehicle will be essential.

The successful candidate will gain knowledge and experience alongside a range of colleagues within a supportive team. They will benefit from regular in-service training, and support through supervision and annual appraisal.

You will be required to assist with a clinical caseload of patients presenting with a wide variety of conditions, ensuring that patients benefit from high quality therapy interventions. The role includes patient assessment, treatment and discharge planning, including equipment provision.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Main duties of the job

The aim of the team is to provide high quality rehabilitation for predominantly elderly patients in order to enable and empower them to maximise their independence before returning home.

The therapy given includes functional assessments, ongoing exercise and mobility practice, equipment provision and home visits.

The successful applicant will be committed to assisting therapists to deliver high quality, evidence based interventions, with a view to supporting patients to attain their chosen goals.

You will have the training and support you require through Trust and team induction, in-service training and one to one training sessions with your supervisor. This offers the opportunity to learn techniques of assessment, treatment planning and delivery of interventions under the guidance of trained therapy staff.
