Support Services Assistant - Cleaning, Catering & Portering

Job summary
We are hoping to recruit a member of staff to join our Facilities Team at Weymouth Community Hospital.
This multiskilled role is working in a friendly hospital environment, mainly within the cleaning team and porter team, helping with cleaning duties in the main hospital, in our outpatient clinical areas to include duties such as emptying bins, cleaning toilets and porter duties where support to the entire site is given for such duties as accepting deliveries, removing waste bags to the external waste bins, monitoring medical gas supplies and general site duties such as supporting patients from the car park to their appointments and ensuring the doors and windows are closed prior to leaving the shift.
We have a 21 hour vacancy, cleaning each Monday, Tuesday and Friday 5pm-8pm and Porter duties each Wednesday and Thursday 3pm-9.30pm.
There may be a need to change this pattern to work flexibly within the team to cover the needs of the service. Additional hours are usually available to cover annual leave and sickness absence.
Any additional hours where they are worked at weekend attracts additional enhanced levels of pay and you will receive a generous annual leave allowance.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
Main duties of the job
Cleaning - duties across the site, working to NHS cleaning standards, as the cleaning rota requires. - weekly duties supporting the delivery of items throughout the site,
Porter duties, collecting samples, receiving deliveries and supporting in unloading deliveries such as stores and catering deliveries.
A full UK driving license is an advantage for this role, however it is not essential as you may be required to use the hospital vehicle to deliver meals to a nearby site.
Catering; whilst not planned within the shift pattern, there may on occasion be a need to cover catering duties, such as making salads and sandwiches, restocking the vending machines - experience preferred but not essential.
For all duties, full training, support and uniform will be provided, shadowing current experienced staff to enable the successful candidate to become confident in their role
