Job summary

The unit is open 10-4 Sundays and 9-6 Mon- Thurs including bank holidays

We offer both an appointment and walk in services serving our local community of all ages.

This is a part time post of 17 hours per week. The post holder may be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

Main duties are to assess, treat, refer or discharge any patient attending the Minor Injuries Unit

To be able to recognise and take appropriate actions in an emergency situation.

To take clinical responsibility for patients, carers, students and other junior health professionals

To be able to provide health promotion to patients

To Maintain a high quality of care for all patients attending the unit

To be able to facilitate access of patients into secondary or community care settings as appropriate

To work as an autonomous practitioner within the Minor Injuries Unit

Knowledge, skills and training

Essential

  • Registered Nurse/ Emergency Care Practitioner/ AHP qualification in Specialist field to degree/diploma level
  • Supplemented by diploma level specialist training and/or short courses, or equivalent level of experience
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children
  • Teaching skills

Job specific experience

Essential

  • qualificationsAt least 2 years' experience of working in emergency and/or, minor injury and/or ailment care
  • Recent previous experience of working within a customer focused environment
  • Previous experience of working with a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to undertake physical examination in order to diagnose previously undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Managerial/supervisory experience

Essential

  • The ability to organise own time and that of junior staff and learners, plan off duty rota and undertake discharge planning involving co-ordination with other agencies.

Information Technology

  • IT literacy in order to be able enter patient-related data into identified electronic record systems; and take part in the audit process
