Job summary

Dorset HealthCare are looking for experienced nurses and paramedics to join our Urgent Care Service as a Senior Clinical Advisor based at our site in St. Leonards on a full and part time basis.

We are looking for professionals with a broad clinical knowledge & ability to make autonomous clinical decisions across a wide range of clinical presentations of all age groups.

Then the role of Senior Clinical Advisor is for you with 24/7 rotas, enhanced shift allowance for evenings, weekends and public holidays and full comprehensive training package provided to obtain your Pathways Clinical Consultation System (PaCCS) licence.

The Clinical Assessment Service is vitally important - providing a 24/7 telephone and online service, ensuring that urgent care needs are responded to and managed to the most appropriate pathway.

We offer a range of working hours - Out of hours working is required, evenings, nights and weekends available.

Main duties of the job

As an NHS 111 Senior Clinical Advisor, you will be part of a team of clinicians providing visible clinical support to our Health Advisors and wider clinical teams during hours of operation. Leading by example as an effective Clinician when on shift is essential within this role.

Calls will be directed to you when patients require clinical advice, by using a combination of your clinical experience and our PaCCS software, you'll ensure the patient receives the most suitable treatment tailored to their needs. Treatment can range from self-care and advice to referring patients to other services.

You will actively promote and contribute to a performance culture in relation to the 111 and Integrated Urgent Care service and all other clinical services provided by the organisation.

You will:

Harness your wealth of healthcare experience to assess and lead patients to the correct health outcome, providing the most appropriate advice and treatment, based on their assessment

Work quickly and accurately with resilience under pressure

Record data quickly and accurately on the computer

Essential:

Registered nurses or paramedics with at least 2 years' experience preferably in a pre-hospital, primary care or ED setting

Evidence of undertaking regular update training and continuous personal/professional development

High levels of motivation and a passion for delivering quality patient care

An ability to adapt to a new and challenging setting

Educational Requirements

Essential

  • Registered Nurse - Level 1 sub part 1 with current NMC registration / registered paramedic/emergency care practitioner with current HPC registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Willingness to undertake and successfully complete training for NHS Pathways (must also be able to meet minimum threshold of 200 calls per month, required to maintain proficiency in Pathways)

Desirable

  • Teaching/Training qualifications such as ENB 998 or equivalent

Experience

  • Experience of working in a primary care environment, A&E, MAU / EAU or other first contact setting
