Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a hardworking and proactive individual to join our busy Audiology Department in Boscombe, Bournemouth. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a career in a friendly and forward-thinking department.

This post is offered as full time (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm).

Main duties of the job

The function of the Audiology Service is to reduce disability due to hearing loss. The post holder will contribute to this by delivering adult rehabilitation services to patients and by delivering open access repair services across East Dorset under indirect supervision.

The Post Holder will be responsible and accountable for the audiological care of patients allocated to them under indirect supervision of a Registered Audiologist. For every patient contact the post-holder will comply with the Trust's Infection Control Procedures to minimisethe risk of cross-infection with particular reference to the handling, cleaning and disinfection of ear canal impressions and ear moulds. They will accept responsibility for the care and functioning of their complex, expensive programmable audiometric equipment. This mayinclude occasional transfer of equipment weighing up to 13 kg.

  • Excellent IT skills.

Education Requirement/Qualifications

Essential

  • Successful completion of Audiology clinical placement logbook or equivalent. OR
  • BSA certificates in Audiometry. BSA certificate in otoscopy and impression taking. OR
  • NVQ Level 3 in health discipline or equivalent vocational qualification or experience.

Desirable

  • NVQ, diploma or similar in Audiology. OR
  • BAA Accredited Assistant Audiologist Course or equivalent. OR
  • Hearing Aid Dispensing Course or equivalent.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge base

  • Theoretical knowledge of Audiology.
  • Experience with working with the public.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment with conflicting demands and prioritising workload.
