Job responsibilities

The role will support people to reach an optimum level of function; focussing on activities of daily living, vocation and leisure under the direction of qualified clinical/counselling psychologists.

The Assistant Psychologist will receive clinical supervision/training to provide low intensity psychological assessment/intervention, neuro-psychological screening and psycho-educational groupwork.

In addition, the Assistant Psychologist will undertake research and development activities under the guidance of a clinical psychologist.

Person Specification

education

Essential

• 2:1 or 1st class degree in psychology

Desirable

• MSC in psychology or other study

experience with client group

Essential

• experience working with mental illness/psychosis

Desirable

• training in relevant therapeutic intervention

personal skills

Essential

• therapy skills (ability to form therapy relationships/engagement with Clients)

Desirable

• prior experience of working in a AP role

Admin PC skills

Essential

• Use of office. Xcel, Power-point, database

Desirable

• Comfortable with SPSS and PowerBI

Group work skills

Essential

• Experience providing group interventions to clients

MDT work

Essential

• experience working within a multidisciplinary team setting

Neuropsychological assessment

Essential

• Understanding of neuropsychological assessment

Desirable

• Experience of using neuropsychological assessment (e.g. WAIS, RBANS, etc)
