Job summary

A new opportunity has arisen for a 9-month fixed term maternity cover (ending 30.09.24) for Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP), with the Weymouth & Portland Adult Community Mental Health team and the Bridport Adult Community Mental Health team. This would be suitable for a trainee to gain experience before qualifying and could be a secondment opportunity. In W&P the teams comprise of medical staff (2 x Consultants and an ACP), Team Leader, RGN/RMNs, STR workers, and psychologists. This multi-disciplinary team provides a comprehensive specialist mental health service for W&P locality. We have dedicated duty workers, run a one stop Clozaril clinic, a weekly depot clinic and have an excellent admin team who support the whole team.The service takes new referrals for those persons presenting with a mental disorder age 18 - 65.The Team is based at the on the Westhaven site in Weymouth. There is onsite free parking.In Bridport the Adult CMHT comprises of two PT Consultants equating to one FT post. One FT Team Leader and a mixture of FT and PT experienced CPNs 6 in total, albeit currently have two vacancies. The team are based at Bridport Community Hospital site in a modern office, parking is available on site. W&P are a pilot site for the Community Mental Health review (MHICC) and have close links with the PCN and community partners.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be responsible as part of the clinical team for providing mental health assessment, treatment and care planning for patients accepted by the Team and will work under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist.

There is an expectation that the post-holder will see patients in outpatient clinics, community hospitals or carry out home visits to see the patients in their own homes, if the need arises.

The ability to work closely and co-operatively with members of a multi-disciplinary team is an essential and integral part of the post. Attendance at a weekly team meeting is required. The presentation of assessments, management plans and case reviews at the weekly team meeting is an important part of the duties of this post.

The trainee ACP will have supervision from the consultant in the CMHT . The post holder will be expected to identify a clinical supervisor. The postholder will participate in regular supervision (management and clinical).

Essential

  • Registered Health Practitioner
  • Relevant full Masters degree, or due to qualify within 3 months of interview date, or demonstrable extensive equivalent experience in the relevant specialty
