One permanent School Health Nursery Nurse (SHNN, AfC band 4) term time only post -

The post will provide support to the Weymouth and Portland Team to be based at Littlemoor Health Centre as part of the Dorset Team. The role is for 22.5hrs per week, term time only, over 3 days Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (3 x 8hr days inclusive of 30 minute lunchbreak )

There will also be a strong requirement for SHNNs in Dorset to sometimes work corporately with SHNNs in their areas in response to identified needs and so there may be a need to travel to various school and community venues.

You will receive line management support from a Team Coordinator, who is highly experienced in working with school age children. You will participate in the school age core programme, outlined by the Healthy Child Programme and will work in partnership with the Local Authority, Early Intervention teams, children's social care, schools, other DHC services and other agencies.

The service is committed to delivering high quality care to children, young people and their families.

Main duties of the job

A School Health Nursery Nurses (SHNN)s role is crucial in the structure of the School Nursing Team to deliver advice, support and guidance to parents/carers of children of primary school age. This role also includes involvement in completing the Public Health England National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and the School Nursing offer of hearing checks and developmental assessments and related support.

  • BTEC level 3 Diploma in Early Years OR CACHE Diploma in Child care and Education, Level 3 (2 year course) OR NVQ/ SNVQ level 3 in Early Years and Education OR NNEB Diploma
