Job summary

Dorset Healthcare Estates and Facilities Directorate are looking to appoint a conscientious and self-motivated Assistant Estates Officer Building.

Working alongside the Estates Officer Building as well as colleagues in the mechanical and electrical operational teams, the Assistant Estates Officer will supply problem solving support and effective supervision of a team of builders and Maintenance Workers.

The team, which are based at our new office and workshop facilities in Wareham,deliver pre-planned maintenance and repair services to a variety of Trust premises across Dorset, including Community Hospitals, Health Centres, Mental Health Units and Administrative Buildings.

Whilst this is very much a working role both hands-on and office based, it should also be seen as a development role, and as part of the departments' succession plan, a programme of professional development training is in place, that will support the Assistant Estates Officers' progression towards more senior roles of the future.

The Assistant Estates Officer post comes with an added pay enhancement of £2600 pa., NHS Pension, 27 days leave per year plus bank holidays, flexible working arrangements, overtime paid at premium rates, a tracked vehicle (for business use only), work wear and all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Holding and maintaining a full UK (United Kingdom) driving licence is an essential requirement.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Estates Officer will be responsible for the operational supervision of the estates building team and supporting maintenance workers across all Trust sites, assisting the Estates Officer Building in ensuring the reliability of building maintenance systems and equipment. This will include the guidance and support to Estates operatives to ensure statutory and mandatory compliance.

The Estates Department is a patient, visitor and staff driven department focused in delivering a range of building and engineering services in a professional, effective, consistent, and friendly manner.

Our key objectives are to provide staff, patients and visitors with safe, attractive and fully operational environments whilst ensuring the Trust has all the engineering support services required to sustain normal, healthcare operations and business continuity
