Working for the School Aged Immunisation Team allows for you to work as part of a team supporting and promoting the importance of vaccines who are passionate to protect this age group and offering support to the Integrated Vaccination Service across the Trust.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Lead to manage the School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS). The SAIS team is part of the Integrated Vaccination Service and provides all school age children in Dorset their immunisations as per the UK Health Security Agency schedule, immunisations take place at a school or community clinic. You will be leading, supporting and managing a team of nurses and administrators on a day-to-day basis, ensuring all clinics and sessions are staffed appropriately and safely. The team has three bases across Dorset and admin bases at various locations.
Main duties of the job
To ensure that all immunisation service developments are delivered consistently pan Dorset in collaboration with the Senior Managers, Managers and Lead colleagues.
To lead and manage the school aged immunisation programmes, ensuring that requirements are delivered according to set time scales and all Service Specifications
To develop, implement and evaluate innovative ways of working in the delivery of school based immunisation programmes in conjunction with the Senior Managers, Service Managers and Project Managers as appropriate
To develop and maintain productive and effective partnerships with external agencies e.g other provider units, Local Authorities, Schools.
To be responsible for the development, review and updating of specific immunisation related Standard Operating Procedures/Patient Group Directions and other documentation.
To be continually responsible for the assessment of needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of the SAIS programmes delivery and offer to schools.
Oversight of delivery and management of vaccines.
Liaise with the Matrons within IVS and the Senior Management Team, pharmacists, schools, and Local Commissioners to ensure the smooth running of the service.
Exploring the data for uptake figures and working in partnership with schools who have low uptake and how this can be improved.
