Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Podiatrist to join our supportive Podiatry team in Dorset.

We have a unique opportunity, offering a split role between our Biomechanics and Community High Risk Podiatry services. This post requires a podiatrist who can demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in the management of individuals with lower limb biomechanical pathology in both adults and children, as well as providing high quality foot care to patients with "feet in need" in a community setting.

You will be expected to work flexibly and to travel to different settings across the Trust's geographical footprint during the working week. This will generally be across Poole, Bournemouth & Christchurch but will also include 1-2 clinics per month in Gillingham, providing biomechanics services to our North Dorset patient cohort. It is therefore essential that you are a driver with access to a car for work purposes.

The Community Podiatrist role is a permanent, full-time post of 37.5 hours per week however we would consider part-time applicants. Our core hours are Mon to Fri 08.30 - 16.30

In return we offer a fantastic induction programme and pastoral support, and there are excellent learning and development opportunities, including an in-house programme of CPD, study days and clinical rotations, as well as regular clinical supervision, team meetings and 1:1s.

For further enquiries please contact nikki.grenville-cleave@nhs.net or call on 07909 665926.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside our hospital diabetic foot care services and specialisms in rheumatology, MSK and nail surgery.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • The assessment, diagnosing, planning and implementation of high-risk podiatric care, including ulcer management, for patients with a wide range of clinical needs.
  • Assisting in the provision of a specialist community biomechanics podiatry service in providing a high quality, flexible and responsive service within the primary care setting; with clinical responsibility for the biomechanics clinics at these locations.
  • Providing education and health promotion to meet the complex needs of musculoskeletal foot conditions.
  • Providing a high-quality person-centred approach to care delivery which always considers people's safety, privacy, and dignity.
  • Providing specialist advice to others regarding the management and care of patients/service users.
  • Providing supervision, mentorship, training and clinical support to students and trained practitioners.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
