Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our outstanding rated Trust within our male dementia ward, St. Brelades , at our Alderney Hospital site based in Poole.

Our ward provides a high standard of assessment and treatment to older persons with Dementia and BPSD (Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia), with a recent recognition by the National Gold Standards Framework, achieving 'ward of the year'. You will gain valuable experience and skills across the field of Dementia Health care, incorporating both physical and mental health. Our St. Brelades ward is a male inpatient ward supporting up to 17 mental health patients.

You will be motivated to make a real difference in the lives of people living with dementia, where passion, empathy, strong communication and excellent teamwork are essential personal qualities for this role. Whilst experience is desirable, it is not essential as full induction training will be provided with ongoing support from our experienced teams.Further opportunities for career development are also available.

Main duties of the job

You will receive a comprehensive and structured induction programme upon commencing employment.

In return we can also offer you monthly pay plus enhancements for night, weekend and bank holiday working with regular management, clinical supervision and meaningful appraisals

You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.

The Mental Health Support Worker post is a full-time role. We would be flexible and consider part time applications (minimum of 30 hours)

Shift patterns:

Early - 7:00 - 15:00

Late - 15:00 - 21:00

Twilight - 20:30 - 01:00 (enhanced pay)

Nights - 20.30 - 07.30 (enhanced pay)

Please note there are no night only posts. However, rotation on to twilight or nights may be required to cover leave.
