Job summary
We have recently been awarded investment in Dorset to develop Stroke and Neuro Services to meet the National Stroke Service model, particularly with reference to developing Integrated Community Stroke Services. As a result, a new role for an AHP Consultant has been created to lead the way for Rehabilitation in Dorset, beyond stroke and neurological condition pathways, improving Rehab provision across the county.
Health and Care organisations in Dorset are at the forefront of transforming services to provide excellent, patient - centred care. You will be a highly experienced or aspiring AHP Rehabilitation Consultant able to lead in modernising the way we think about rehabilitation, focused on need, not diagnosis. You will drive development in all areas of Rehab initially starting with Stroke and Neuro services, as well as supporting the local ambitions of the Dorset Home First Programme.
The AHP Consultant will demonstrate expert levels of clinical judgement, knowledge and experience, with the ability to lead and influence in supporting transformation. You will have clinical expertise within the field of rehabilitation, enabling leadership and providing consultancy whilst influencing a range of stakeholders across the system.
You will lead, innovate and influence by setting a clear direction on service planning and delivery; leading discussions regarding requirements of rehabilitation services, ensuring an innovative and high-quality service is delivered.
Main duties of the job
Take a lead through working across multi-organisational and multi-professional teams, pathways and systems to develop a common community rehabilitation offer for people with Long Term Conditions (LTCs) based on need.
Work alongside local partners, including people with lived experience, to build a sustainable approach which joins up services and integrates support around the person.
To deliver personalised holistic rehabilitation, taking a biopsychosocial approach that builds your already developed advanced practitioner skills, using behaviour change and psychological therapy approaches. Desired outcomes are to help the people of Dorset increase personal knowledge and confidence in how to live well with LTCs whilst taking a proactive approach to secondary prevention, stopping or slowing the progression of poor health due to complexity, frailty and disability.
We will work with the successful applicant to develop a fulfilling Job Plan encompassing the pillars of Consultant practice allowing you to thrive as you lead our rehabilitation journey. Dorset has a growing number of AHP consultant posts who will provide a valuable network to you as you step into a consultant career. We have links with the AECC College, a unique HEI in Dorset, expanding the number of health science programmes on offer locally. Our HEI partners (AECC and BU) will provide excellent opportunities to support you on your clinical leadership journey and allow you to develop research and teaching ambitions.
