Job summary
Are you a practical, mechanically minded person who would enjoy the challenge of being out and about every day throughout Dorset repairing manual and powered wheelchairs for our NHS Dorset Wheelchair Service?
The role is a physically demanding role, working in clients homes, care homes, school and other hospitals, delivering and maintaining equipment provided to meet a clients mobility and postural needs.
No experience of working with wheelchairs is required as appropriate training will be given to the successful candidate.
This is a full time post 37.5hrs
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
Main duties of the job
Dorset Wheelchair Service are currently recruiting for a Wheelchair Service Repairs Engineer. Some weekend and bank holiday cover. The post will be required to work flexibly across Dorset to meet the needs of the service.
The main purpose of the job is to work independently with allocated tasks both with in the department and in the community to provide an effective and responsive wheelchair maintenance, delivery, collection and repair service for Dorset Wheelchair Service. All activity must be fully compliant with relevant national legislation and local Trust policy and procedure. This will involve travel across the whole county of Dorset.
