Job summary
Intensive Community Support Dementia have a unique opportunity for Mental Health Support Workers to join our dynamic and supportive team based at Forston Clinic, Dorchester.
ICSD cover North and West Dorset, pool cars are available, Automatic and Manual. However, use of your own car may be needed with milage being paid at AFC rate. You must have a valid full UK driving licence.
ICSD are a Community Mental Health team that helps to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions for people that have Dementia. We offer high quality interventions to help patients in their own environment, this could be either a care/residential home or in their own private home. We support and facilitate patients care plans to optimise independence, quality of life through therapeutic engagement.
As a mental health support worker, you will be joining an experienced and compassionate team. We offer in house training including those that would like to advance their skills. Experience in Dementia is not essential but a keen desire to assist people is essential. For those with no experience we offer training to achieve your Care Certificate.
This post is full time hours however could be flexible and part time hours would be considered (minimum of 22.5 hours) ICSD is a 7 day a week service, operating from 07:00-20:00hrs. We work on rota basis covering alternate weekends.

Main duties of the job
To undertake visits as prescribed in patients care plan undertaking the tasks within care plan to assist patient.
To report back to Nurse in Charge your findings at the visits
We offer a wide range of support from taking patient out into the community.
Assist patient to engage in a social care package. To help providers to support in their environment this being their own home or a Care Home.
We also offer assistance to physical health hospitals for patients that they are struggling to manage due to patients behaviours associated with their Dementia.
You will be supported in your role with Daily handovers
Support from HCP while out on visits.
You will have management supervision from a designated HCP and Clinical supervision from a HCP of your choice
PMVA
You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
