Due to a secondment opportunity within the team, we are excited to offer a 12 month fixed term position to lead the wonderful student support practitioners in supporting our pre-registration students.

You will be responsible for the line management of the team, overseeing the placement co-ordination and pastoral support of all pre-registration students in Dorset Healthcare, whilst liaising with Providers, NHSE and Dorset System colleagues. You will be a part of embedding the Student placement strategy in practice, allowing our placement offer to expand and support the pipeline of future workforce into the Trust

This post provides a vital and important role in ensuring a cohesive approach to the delivery of student placements across the Trust and assurance that students learners complete placements that enable them to practice safely, effectively and with confidence and compassion.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will contribute to the building of a learning culture throughout the Trust and work closely with other members of the L&D team and the wider organisation to ensure the provision of an excellent and equitable education service.

The Clinical Student Lead will work with the L&D Service Leads to use educational resources to support both students and supervisors in practice, to ensure learners experience a high-quality placement, and develop strong working relationship at all levels across the Trust and with external partners to develop a culture whereby the student experience is firmly embedded in practice.

In this role, the post holder will draw on their experience of earlier career roles, and project management skills, to lead a team of practice educators and Placement Administration support in delivering safe, high quality pre-registration education and placements ensuring we have the required number of placements across professional groups and are able to expand our placement capacity in line with local and national strategy.

Use negotiation skills and act as a conduit between HEIs and Trust services in order to assess the learning/capacity need, if services can meet this need and to then agree provision of student placement numbers.

To work with Trust services where there are issues with placements or where concerns are raised in order to rectify the situation.

  • Broad clinical and multi-agency knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Trust's Strategies
  • Registered health practitioner to degree level supplemented by minimum PG Dip (120 credits) plus working towards MA / MSc or working towards in a relevant subject or demonstrable extensive experience in a relevant specialty

Desirable

  • Practice assessing, teaching or supervision qualification
  • Project management qualification or relevant demonstrable experience

  • Demonstrates expertise in project management
